For Bebe Wood, art is the ultimate form of expression, no matter the medium. Since teaching herself to play piano at 6, Wood has gradually studied the fundamentals of what it means to be a musician, learning how to play a host of instruments spanning the mandolin to the guitar while honing her skills as a vocalist. It’s something that’s been instilled in her since a young age: “I was always making noise," says the Kansas City native.
Wood began writing songs when she was 15, surveying both the world around her and matters of the heart and distilling those perceptions into the composition. The result is sometimes brass-knuckled, sometimes tender, a carousel of songs conveying Wood’s breadth of creativity and ability to traipse between genre and form without losing her core sense of self.
